Tourist info desk and souvenir shop opened in Bijeljina

Today’s opening of info desk and souvenir shop is another step forward towards promotion of tourist offer of Bijeljina and Semberija.

Tourist Organisation of the City of Bijeljina opened its office at Patrijarha Pavla br. 4. The idea emerged as a result of the fact that many tourists from BaH and abroad visit Bijeljina more often than before.

The purpose of the newly opened souvenir shop is to promote Semberija using souvenirs, and to provide information to all tourists in this part of Srpska. Such information is related to locations of cultural and historical monuments, religious buildings, accommodation, and gastronomic offer in Bijeljina.
As for the future plans, the Tourist Organisation intends, with the cooperation of the City Administration, to organise an event which would be the main association of this area and its tourist offer.

Mayor Ljubiša Petrović attended the opening, and used this occasion to point out the obligation of the City to continuously improve tourist offer, since the facts show that position of Bijeljina on the tourist map is getting better.
- In 2021, the number of overnight stays, or tourist visits in Bijeljina had increased by 30%, which presents us with new tasks – to provide better ways for the tourists to get to know this city, and they can get the most important information at the info desk. At the beginning of the year, an agreement between the City Administration and Tourist Organisation was reached related to two public calls. The first one is related to the ‘Postcard of Bijeljina’ – all interested citizens, lovers of photography, amateurs or professionals will have an opportunity to apply for the competition for the selection of the best photograph with the motives of Bijeljina. The second call will be related to the selection of the best conceptual design for making souvenirs. This means additional inflow of funds, and same can be said for the revenues coming from sojourn tax paid by tourists – said Petrović.

In addition to this project, three more projects have been implemented recently – installation of tourist signs, reconstruction of hiking trail from Tavna Monastery to the Skakavac waterfall, and installation of a selfie sign in the centre of Bijeljina.

It is very important to mention that Bijeljina will have licensed tourist guides soon, and that the tourist guides will be trained in order to acquire necessary licenses. In that way, Bijeljina and its tourist potentials will be adequately presented to tourists – the Tourist Organisation announced.
