Operation of five local communities of the City of Bijeljina will be more efficient



Mayor Ljubiša Petrović handed over IT equipment to the representatives of five local communities today.
 
Through the project ‘Strengthening the Role of Local Communities in BiH’ – Phase 2, local communities of Donji Zagoni, ‘Novo naselje’, ‘Sokolski dom’, Crnjelovo Gornje and Vršani received computer equipment consisting of desktop computer, multifunctional device and a tablet. One equipment set – projector with screen and stand (which will be available to all local communities) was given to the City Administration.
 
This project encourages local development led by the local communities, because their role is essential in the communication between the citizens and local self-government.
 
Mayor expressed his gratitude to the donor, UNDP, for these, as well as for all previous donor funds received by the City of Bijeljina.
 
- This donation will improve efficiency of work of local communities. We foster social responsibility; we support projects like this one financially – the total value of the equipment is BAM 15,480, with the participation of the City of Bijeljina in the amount of BAM 2,120.
 
Also, during the today’s meeting with the representatives of one half of all Local Community Councils, we commenced talks concerning dealing with accumulated infrastructural problems and established order of priorities – said Mayor Petrović.
 
Ankica Todorović, Head of Section for Local Economic Development and European Integration, pointed out that this is the second time the City of Bijeljina participates in the project ‘Strengthening the Role of Local Communities in BiH’, and that the local communities are satisfied with the things they managed to achieve through the Project.
 
Jovica Davidović, President of the Local Community Council ‘Sokolski dom’, expressed his gratitude for the computer equipment, and added that the cooperation with the citizens will be improved, because the citizens will also be able to use the equipment.
 
Project ‘Strengthening the Role of Local Communities in BiH’ – Phase 2 is the result of joint work of the governments of Switzerland and Sweden, and is implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Government of Republika Srpska, Brčko District Government, Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, Federal Ministry of Justice, and both entity Associations of Municipalities and Cities.
